Device identity of a synthesized pointer gesture.
Every default reproduces the historical synthetic mouse, so the simulate_* overloads that omit it are unchanged. pointer_id is what makes multi-touch reachable: the gesture arbiter keys its sessions on it and the pinch / rotate recognizers key their touch maps on it, so a second finger that reuses id 0 overwrites the first instead of pairing with it.
